Personal Warm-ups

Note: There are many exercises that you already know about -- and many videos, books, and articles provide even more sources to build some exercises into your day to strengthen your voice -- which will strengthen our chorus.  If some of these ideas below don't fit you -- then hunt to find something -- or make up your own 5-minute plan.
We all know the importance of staying in shape -- physically, mentally, and vocally -- but, doing something regularly is so easy to put on a back burner.
Here are some tips, ideas and links to help you add some short warm-up times during the week.   If you find other links or information for this page -- please email it to JudyG.

Vocal Warm-ups:
  • Our singing voice is a valuable asset
  • Vocal cords are delicate, and need to be treated with care.  Warmups can help these muscles stretch and relax - and will help reduce the risk of tension, damage, and voice loss.
  • Vocal warmups can help smooth out vocal breaks, improve range, and give opportunity for breathing exercises.

"Alligator Song"
Once you're warmed up a little,
sing Alligator with FUN - add some movement,
pay attention to the note intervals,
and the message of this silly song.
